Capturing the Experience of Kiviranta Living

During the past few months, Story Front has worked closely with the architect of a premier real estate development known as Kiviranta, a name that means “rock shore” in Finnish. The development is being built on the site of the former Nokomis Restaurant, an intimate lakefront property just up the North Shore.

Kiviranta is a “common interest community,” designed by architect David Salmela [link to website http://www.salmelaarchitect.com/]. The development will include eight separate units, but within each unit individuals will share common living experiences, such as shifts in natural lighting throughout the day, serene views of the lakeshore, and amenities such as sauna and yoga classes.

Because the development is still being built, Story Front faced the unique challenge of promoting Kiviranta without being able to film the subject. Instead of focusing on a physical representation, Storyfront is in the process of capturing the experience of Kiviranta Living, influenced primarily by the calm majesty of the lakeshore.

Stay tuned for the finished project, which will include an interview with the architect, stunning cinematography, and superb filmic storytelling.

Through the Valley

When the daughter of a typical suburban family lashes out, Randy (her Father) must find a way to help her. Having tried just about everything, Randy decides to bring her to Africa with the hope that she’ll gain a new perspective. While there, they develop a deep relationship with a nearby family that lived through the Rwandan genocide

This award-winning feature documentary showcases Story Front’s wide range of expertise. Our creative engine was largely responsible for the editing, producing, writing, and photography

The Samaritan

In 1985, an attorney from Texas is suddenly forced to decide whether to help a Romanian defector that’s jumped ship in the Houston harbor, fleeing the oppressive dictatorship of Nicolae Ceausescu. After appealing to the U.S. Congress, he succeeds. But that is only the beginning. He chooses to travel to Romania in order to help the defector’s family escape as well.

In this feature documentary, the Story Front collaborative followed the narrative all the way to Romania. It is another example of the collaborative’s versatility: writing, producing, and editing.

The Familiar

Still grieving after his wife’s untimely death, reclusive gunsmith Sam (Bryan Massey) shuns his religion and wades into a dangerous affair with his sister-in-law, Laura (Laura Spencer). Sam is too blinded by lust and passion to see that she’s been possessed by an evil spirit.

This feature film was Story Front’s first full production. It was written and directed by the collaborative’s founder, Miles Hanon.

Beyond the Gates of Splendor

In documentary form, this film gives an account of the spearing deaths of five missionaries in Ecuador in 1956, and the consequent transformation of the Stone Age Indian tribe, the Aucas.

This documentary brought the Story Front collaborative to the jungles of Ecuador, and showcases the editorial, production, and camera skills of our creative engine.
